/ RIGHT TO LIVE – AND RIGHT TO DIE

Time: 01/02 16:00
Location: Løbeklubben

We control so much in life, so surely, we should also be able to choose when we wish to die? In the ongoing debate about assisted suicide, there are strong arguments that it would be beneficial if we were allowed to decide our own death date. But would it actually be good to have to make that choice ourselves? Is it really a desire that comes from the sick and dying – or from the healthy?

How do we understand each other across generations when it comes to something as difficult as when we may choose to live or die? What consequences will it have for us when we become sick, disabled, or elderly if society offers assisted suicide? How can we maintain the view that people are valuable – even when they can no longer contribute? How can we accommodate different opinions to these difficult questions? How can we approach another person’s sincere wish to be allowed to die?
